Patient Leader Spotlight
Christopher Cocchiaraley
Right Scan Right Time is excited to welcome our newest patient advocate, Christopher Cocchiaraley. His experience highlights why improving patient access to modern imaging technology is critical for patients and their families.
Christopher’s journey is not merely one of loss, but of a relentless pursuit of justice for individuals navigating the complexities of modern medicine. His work is a testament to the belief that the quality of one’s care should be non-negotiable.
Honoring a Legacy of Strength
Christopher’s mission is deeply rooted in the memory of his mother, Veronica. In 2020, her courageous battle with bladder cancer came to an end, an experience marked by a critical eleven-month delay in diagnosis in which outdated medical technology played a key role. Because a legacy CT scanner lacked the Metal Artifact Reduction (MAR) algorithm required to see beyond the image distortions caused by the metallic components in Veronica’s hip replacement, the window for life-saving intervention was narrowed and ultimately vanished.
Global Influence, Human Impact
Refusing to allow Veronica’s experience to be in vain, Christopher has ascended to the international stage to demand better. His advocacy isn’t just about raising awareness; it’s about achieving meaningful policy objectives:
- A National Voice: Championing Patient Rights
- Setting the Standard: Leading the Charge to Amend CT Performance and Safety Protocols
- The Aim: Moving Legacy Systems that Fail to Meet Patient Needs Out of Clinical Use
The Path Forward
Christopher has partnered with Right Scan Right Time to continue advancing these goals, working to ensure patients across the country have access to the high-quality, appropriate medical imaging technology they need when they need it.
