Health Tech Investment Act Can Improve Patient Care
The future of healthcare is here – and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the forefront. Already, AI-enabled medical technologies are changing the way that healthcare professionals interpret medical images and treat an array of conditions.
From helping a physician identify polyps during a colonoscopy to prioritizing scans for emergency interventions, AI in medical imaging is improving patient care.
But policy has fallen behind. Lack of reimbursement for these technologies creates challenges for physicians seeking to integrate these tools into their practices and prevents many patients – including those on Medicare – from accessing these benefits.
Thankfully, however, lawmakers recently introduced the Health Tech Investment Act (S. 1399), which would address this critical need by establishing a stable Medicare reimbursement pathway for AI-enabled medical devices.
Every physician and patient should have the opportunity to utilize state of the art technologies. Make your voice heard today and contact your lawmaker HERE.
