Support the FIND Act to Increase Access to Innovative Diagnostics

Through exciting innovations in diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals, doctors are finding new ways to diagnose and monitor conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, advanced cardiac disease, and cancers of the prostate, breast, and brain. However, Medicare is standing in the way of elderly Americans’ ability to take advantage of these needed tools.

Currently, Medicare’s reimbursement structure limits patient access to innovative imaging tools that improve diagnosis of these deadly diseases.

By reimbursing diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals as “supplies” through a “packaged” payment system, the current Medicare payment methodology creates a significant barrier to patient access to the newer, more precise generation of diagnostic nuclear imaging drugs.

Congress has proposed a solution to this problem by introducing the Facilitating Innovative Nuclear Diagnostics (FIND) Act of 2021. If passed, this bill would give patients greater access to a wide range of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals that can better detect serious illnesses while also protecting patients from increased copayment.

You can encourage your Member of Congress to support this legislation and help improve access to this technology that may lead to an earlier and clearer diagnosis, which can result in improved outcomes and a better understanding of treatment options.
